Business Requirement

BMJ is a global brand having a world-wide audience, which helps medical organisations and clinicians tackle today’s most critical healthcare challenges. They wanted to revamp their existing WordPress website so that it is more appealing and responsive on almost all handhelds.

Our Approach

Our focus was to take the BMJ objectives to the audience with a content oriented design. So we took the time up front to gather and organize the content for the site and then setup WordPress and the theme around the content. We also used the theme options to the best possible way so that all themes related sections could be easily edited by the admin right at theme options. We also made good use of the custom field plugin to make the templates as flexible as possible.

The Challenge

Multi Template Architecture: We were to set the site up with a default template and multi geography-specific templates each for India, Brazil and North America. Each geography-specific template had to be developed with respective product and service listings.

Contest Listing: BMJ conducts medical events for which they invite contest entries. The BMJ web app had to carry a unique feature to collect these entries, segregate, filter and sort them for the final listing. BMJ had to have a feature to collect real-time data from the registered users across the globe and to show this data to admin in real time.

WordPress Multisite Setup: We had the objective to setup multisite for BMJ, as the client required to deliver separate website for each geography

Result

The end result of an agile approach spanning 5 sprints of 2 weeks each, was a well appreciated website which took the bounce rate to less than 5% and the hits to more than 15000 per day. Since the site is WCAG 2.0 Level A compatible, accessibility of the site meets the needs of individuals, organizations, and governments internationally.
